Containerized rail transport, Container Corporation of India (CONCOR), has hailed off another train service from Chennai to ICD Birgunj in Nepal. This has been a long-standing interest of the exchange and has been satisfied in relationship with the Indian Railways.
Ms. Mohanapriya, IRTS, Area Operations Manager, MAS; Shri Sunil Shekhawat, Director, M/s USB Boral, Chennai – Shipper; Shri P.C Jain, Shriniwasa Roadways P Ltd; and Officers from CONCOR, Indian Railways, business partners, exchange and clearing specialists were the participants on this event.
Shri G.R. Seshagiri Rao, Chief General Manager, CONCOR, Chennai, stated that there is a decent interest for development of merchandise from southern states to Nepal and CONCOR had approached to give practical co-ordinations uphold which would likewise limit the travel time. Transporters have exposed their interest in this help to ship different merchandise, for example, auto batteries, automobile parts, tires, gypsum items, elastic, turmeric, HDPE granules, synthetic substances, steel loops and venture payload.
“This would be a standard help ex Chennai to Birgunj including a distance of in excess of 2250 kms for which CONCOR and Indian Railways had attracted up designs to connect Chennai with Birgunj and convey faster rakes on the circuit. The conversations with significant transporters, loads of business and exchange affiliations are proceeding to give unhindered train linkage to ICD, Birgunj, Nepal,” said Rao.
