Inland water Authority of India (IWAI) have built two numbers of RoRo vessels M.V C.V Raman and M.V ADI Shankara from Cochin Shipyard Limited to encourage the container movement utilizing the national waterways NW3. IWAI started two new roll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) services between Willingdon Island and Bolgatty in Kerala. Vessels are having 56m length and 13.5 m breadth with carrying capacity of 376 metric tonne. It can at a time transport 9 forty feet container trucks loaded.

The main objective of the service is to promote use of waterways and inturn reduce the pollution levels in city. Waterway transportation is always cost effective and time saving. The service commenced on a trial arrangement and continue operation next week onwards with fixed schedules. For the convenience of the transporters / truck drivers, KSINC have provided swiping machines, payments apps options onboard the vessel.
