The state government would soon sign a MoU with Paradip Port Trust for developing a riverine port on river Mahanadi.

The state government would soon sign a MoU with Paradip Port Trust for developing a riverine port on river Mahanadi. As directed by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, a high level team of the state government led by Chief Secretary Asit Tripathy visited the proposed site to take stock of the situation on ground.

The all-weather port will be set up with a capacity of 54 MTPA, will be developed in phases with an investment of Rs.4,062 crore. In the first phase 22MTPA capacity will be developed by investing Rs.2562 crore. The port will develop supporting infrastructure like rail, road connectivity and dredging, while the state government will provide 300 hectares of land.
