French carrier CMA CGM which confirmed an order for 22 ships last week, including 12 LNG powered vessels and 10 conventionally powered ships, will use three Chinese yards to build the vessels, six ships at Hudong Zhonghua, six at Jiangnan Shanghai and 10 Qindao Behai shipbuilding.
Six LNG powered,13,000TEU ships will be built at the Hudong Zhonghua shipyard, while Jiangnan Shanghai will build half a dozen 15,000TEU LNG powered units. The remaining 10 ships, all 5,500TEU units, will operate on very low sulphur fuel oil and will be constructed at Qindao Behai shipbuilding.
Vessels Value said the vessels have a total market value of US$1.93 billion bringing the total market value of CMA CGM’s fleet to US$10.5 billion. According to Vessels Value the total value of the carrier’s orderbook stands at US$3.80 billion, while the value of its live fleet currently stands at 95 ships totalling US$6.70 billion.
