Tanker ARK PROGRESS arrived at Dumai, Indonesia, Malacca Strait, on Apr 28, from New Mangalore, India, for a cargo of palm oil. Several days later Master complained of having breath difficulties and fever, he was taken to hospital and sure enough, tested positive. All 23 Indian crew were tested, 4 are under self-quarantine, Master as of May 6, remained at hospital. Other crew are healthy, cargo operations continues, with of course, all the safety measures taken. Interestingly, Indonesian Maritime Authorities said in a recent statement with regards to this case, that the crew though Indians, weren’t in India for a long time, contradicting ship’s track records – tanker left New Mangalore on Apr 18.
