Indian Railways on Sunday achieved a new milestone in seamless connectivity with Gujarat port with the first double stack container train plying between Mundra port in Gujarat to MMLP at Kathwas in Rajasthan. The double stack sea freight container from Mundra port (MDCC) to Concor MMLA at New Kathuwas (CMLK) having a total tonnage of 2480 tons arrived at the dedicated Freight corridor (DFC) New Palanpur (NPNU) at 7.00 Am on sunday and departed at 7.05 Am.
The import containers in rake from Mundra port to Concor, Khatuwas was released on June 20 with 178 Teus .
Major commodities coming in as import are Glycerine,softwood pulp,base paper,aluminium, knitting machine and polyester fabrics with this faster connectivity with north and north east India, it is expected that this new move will be a shot in the arm for the various port of Gujarat, especially sea ports like Pipava,Kandla,Mundra, Hazira and Dahej.
