Mongoliacelebrated its National Day at Expo 2020 Dubai on Tuesdaywith a spectacular ceremony that included the hoisting of the national flag and a colourful traditional music and dance performance at Al Wasl Plaza.
Dureen Tumenjargal, Director of the Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Deputy Commissioner General of the Mongolia Pavilion,was welcomed by Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali, Executive Director of the Office of the Commissioner General of Expo 2020 Dubai.
Najeeb Mohammed Al-Ali said: “Under the theme ‘Nomad by Nature’, the Mongolia Pavilion embraces the nomadic lifestyle that has been held in Mongolia for thousands of years, and illustrates how that co-exists with the current and developing urban lifestyle.
“Visitors to the pavilion will be immersed in its display of Mongolia’s rich heritage, while also being provided with an opportunity to explore the country’s touristic offerings.The pavilion does a wonderful job of highlighting the historical significance and cultural attributes which have shaped Mongolia’s unique identity.”
Tumenjargal said:“This year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the UAE. I am confident that our participation in this iconic universal event, Expo 2020 Dubai, will further strengthen our bilateral relations and business cooperation.
“This Expo has particular significance, as 192 countries are gathering togetherduring COVID time. The event is an important platform for sharing knowledge, values, culture, achievements and best practices. It is an opportunity for governmental and non-governmental organisations to discuss global challenges. At the Mongolia Pavilion, we are happy to showcase our heritage, nomadic lifestyle and business opportunities.”
Speaking at a media briefing the Mongolia Pavilion itself, Tumenjargal added: “Mongolia is currently in a period of transition. We have embraced free economy since 1990. We have to move hand-in-hand with the rest of the world. Apart from our heritage and touristic attractions, we have rich mineral resources. We want to tell the world that the government of Mongolia and the private sector are ready for foreign investment.”
On Wednesday, the country will host a Business Forum at Expo 2020’s Business Connect Centre.
