ONE has announced the suspension of import bookings into Myanmar due to disruption caused by the military coup and subsequent protests in the country.

Ocean Network Express (ONE) has decided to suspend import bookings into Myanmar immediately due to a number of difficulties caused by the coup in the region.

In particular, the Singaporean carrier mentions in its announcement that there are severe disruptions in the Port of Myanmar caused by  protests, port terminals operating close to full capacity and limited availability of road transportation resources. In addition, internet and banking services have been shut, significantly worsening conditions.

ONE said that for those shipments currently on the way, they will strive to get them delivered despite delays which may occur both at transhipment as well as at arrival in Myanmar.

“The situation will be monitored carefully by our staff which will give updates once the situation improves,” added the Singaporean line.
