No one knows exactly when cruise ships will sail again from the port of Galveston. Nevertheless, the port is getting ready to welcome cruise ships and passengers soon.

Port of Galveston is the fourth most popular cruise port in the U.S. and the only cruise home port in Texas. The port is investing $100,000 in health and safety upgrades in its cruise terminals. “We’re closely monitoring progress as industry leaders, federal officials and Congress shape how to resume safe, sustainable cruising,” Galveston Port CEO and Port Director Roger Rees said. Current indications are that the cruise business could resume by late summer 2021 or early fall, he says, and it’s great news for millions of cruise fans in the U.K. and Texas.
