The deep-sea port has been constructed via way of means of India as a part of the Kaladan multimodal mission to reinforce connectivity among the mainland and the landlocked country of Mizoram.
The Sittwe deep-sea port at the west coast of Myanmar, a key a part of the $484 million Kaladan multimodal mission on which India has been taking part with Myanmar, is now prepared for operations, in step with transport minister Mansukh Mandaviya.
Originally scheduled to be finished via way of means of 2014, the mission objectives to lessen the price and time for the transportation of products and necessities from mainland India to Mizoram. Goods can be transported from Kolkata to Sittwe via way of means of sea after which up the Kaladan river via way of means of boat to Paletwa withinside the Chin country of Myanmar and from there to Mizoram via way of means of road.
Mandaviya said, “Now, a personal organization wishes to begin running that port. That organization has been identified. In the following couple of days, the port can be operationalized.”
